Code of Conduct

If you are a participant as below, the Code of Conduct applies to you from the time you arrive at the event until the time you go home. It applies when you are engaging in promotion on behalf of GippSport Streetgames, during production times, workshops, training, social events and games. Basically, if the interaction you’re having is happening because GippSport Streetgames exists, the Code of Conduct applies.

Youth Participants

Play fair, respect yourself, get involved, have fun, encourage others, respect your peers. We have a zero bullying policy. Participants under the age of 12 should be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian or bring written permission to participate. If you need help or support, come chat to one of our team members and we will try our best to link you in with the right people.

General Guidelines

Our Staff

On our team we have two “head coaches” and a bunch of amazing “social sports champions”. You’ll recognise these legends at the game by their shirts, and no matter the GippSport Streetgames event there will always be at least two on. Our staff lead the games, make sure you have an awesome time, and always do their best to make sure the event is fun and safe for all. If you are under 12, we request that you bring a parent or guardian to supervise or bring written permission to participate.

Equipment and restrictions

You don’t need to worry about bringing your own equipment, all equipment will be provided. Just bring along your drink bottle. Please wear suitable and respectful attire. Uniforms are not required, however where possible try to wear sports-friendly attire (closed toe shoes, lighter clothing as weather appropriate). We know most do the right thing, but we can’t have smoking within 10 metres of a public venue for the health of our participants, and alcohol and illicit drugs will not be tolerated. If you are caught bringing these onto premises we will report these to the necessary bodies, smokers will be given a warning, but repeated behaviour will be treated seriously.

All events are Alcohol and Tobacco free. Please move 10 metres away from Streetgames area to consume tobacco products.

Photography policy

We like to take photos and video at events to capture all the fun we have. If you want to opt out of media please request one of our wristbands for media opt-out at the event. For focused media pieces we will always ask verbal and/or written permissions.

Safety, and OH&S

Our staff are all required to have their working with children checks and national police checks in order to work for us. Our staff do an OH&S walkthrough before each event, and each location has had a full site risk assessment run before selection as a key location. Every event will have a first-aider present to deal with injury or accident and apply minor first aid. Anything untreatable by minor first aid, our staff will call an ambulance, and/or the necessary authorities. We don’t operate our games above 38 degrees, and on code red fire days, we always have water and fruit at events, and encourage participants to wear the sunscreen we provide and bring a hat on hotter days. We also have undercover back up locations for all our events, for days when we need shade or shelter to get our game on.

Accessibility

All Latrobe Streetgames locations are wheelchair accessible, and near to public toilet facilities. If you require a carer or support person present, please bring them along to the games they are more than welcome! We are an inclusive project, and don’t stand for bullying or discrimination, we aim to offer a safe space to all participants irrespective of religion, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or disability.

Privacy

We need to get emergency contact details from participants, and we really want to see this project continue. In order to do this we have to collect some info when you first come and play. This is recorded through our Teamapp account by staff, and will be kept confidential. Our staff respect your information, and won’t report your contact info externally or details you disclose unless they are concerned for your or others’ safety.

As mentioned throughout, we won’t tolerate discrimination, violence, harassment or bullying at any of our events, either by participants, parent/s, or other members of the community. We have two staff or more on each event so that if such an event occurs, they are picked up wherever possible. Our staff will talk to you about your desired outcome and how the situation can be handled so you can return and enjoy our games! After all, that’s the aim!
